IMP International Experts Survey

Dear reader,

Thank you for participating in this select group of early readers. Your expertise, experience, and honest perspective are invaluable as we explore the potential launch of a new online Bridge Magazine. Before any decisions are made about its future, we want to understand how such a publication could best serve a dedicated and knowledgeable audience like yours.

Your feedback will help shape the magazine’s identity — from its viability and pricing to its rhythm, scope, and editorial direction. We are not looking for polite approval; we are looking for clarity, insight, and the kind of thoughtful critique that only true bridge enthusiasts can provide.

Please take a moment to reflect on the following questions. There are no right or wrong answers — only your perspective, which is exactly what we need.

NOTE: this is an online survey, and there is always a risk your answers disappear due to some kind of glitch, unfortunately. If you intend to write a long answer, consider writing them in a notepad and copy them afterwards.

Viability

Do you believe an online Bridge Magazine is viable in today’s landscape? What factors most strongly influence your view of its long‑term sustainability?

Which types of content would make this magazine genuinely valuable to you — for example tournament reports, technical and educational articles, expert interviews, annotated deals, community stories, or something entirely different?

How often would you ideally like new issues to be released, and how does that frequency affect a reader's engagement and willingness to subscribe?

What do you consider the optimal number of pages (or reading time) per issue to balance depth, variety, and readability without overwhelming the reader?

What price range would you personally consider fair and realistic for a high‑quality digital Bridge publication, and what would make that price feel fully justified to you? Or would you make it freely accessible and fund the magazine through other ways?

Support and help

We know how to publish a bridge magazine, and within the Netherlands we have a great network of good writers. But to be able to publish an international magazine we need help:

  • Top class authors from all over the world
  • Advertisers or other bridge platforms interested in collaboration
  • Advice from people with experience publishing a (digital) bridge magazine
  • Ambassadors who are willing to promote the magazine in different countries
  • And last but not least, people who would be willing to help us financially

In addition, we would like to add an experienced English-language editor to our staff.

Please note that we are not in this for the money. Our aim is to contribute to the international bridge community by making an engaging, interesting magazine for people who like to read about bridge, but don't want to follow dozens of sites. We do want the people who contribute - authors, editors, designers - to be "adequately compensated" for their work. That won't be much, but more than nothing.

If you want to help out or support us in any of the ways mentioned above, please answer "Yes" to this question, tell us how you would like to contribute, and we will contact you.

Your role in the bridge community

What is your role in the global bridge community? Optional question, more than one role possible.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer our survey!
